Getting There
Fly to Cancun (approximately 4 hours from the Northeast), then take
a taxi or arrange for a van pick-up to Puerto Morelos. Driving time is approximately 20 minutes. Mexican time is one hour behind the East Coast.
Taxis at the airport are government regulated, and a trip to Puerto Morelos costs about $ 55 US. The price is fixed, and drivers will not haggle. You can also take a bus from the airport to Puerto Morelos for approximately $ 5. Information is available at the airport.
For travel to Mexico a current passport is required. Children traveling without one or both parents must have a notarized letter in which the absent parent authorizes the trip to Mexico.
Directions by car from Cancun to Puerto Morelos: Take Highway 307 South from Cancun or the airport. Turn left at Puerto Morelos sign (approx. 20 miles) and continue across the mangroves to the main square. Take the first left as you enter the square…the Amar Inn will be on your right in approximately ½ mile.
